Ever tried these?

So, I think we're going to cloth diaper with this baby. Of course, he'll be in disposables when he's a newborn, but the cloth ones should fit pretty soon (especially considering my babies are on the large side, heh heh). And I just may start Scott on cloth here pretty soon, too. I hear it's good for letting toddlers know they're wet in anticipation of potty-training.

I've been really intimidated by all the options (and expense! $35+ for a set of two fancy cloth diapers, plus the price of the flushable refills) out there when it comes to cloth diapers, but I think this doesn't sound too hard:

Old-fashioned pre-folds ($12 for a dozen at Wal Mart),

vinyl pants (also about $1 a piece),

and, instead of pins, Snappis

($2.50 a piece, but I think it's totally worth it to spend $10 and get 4 fasteners that I know won't pinch my boys).

And this way, if sometime in the future we decide cloth diapering isn't for us, we've only invested about $60 (instead of $1000, as some of my cloth diapering acquaintances have done!). And also, the cloth diapers can be re-used for burp cloths, so they wouldn't be a loss.

I may also try my hand at sewing some of these wool soakers. I'll have to be on the look-out for wool sweaters at DI and garage sales this summer.

So, anyone have any tips for me? I haven't started amassing the supplies yet, so it's not too late to tell me the pros and cons of cloth diapering, especially if you've had some experience in it. :)

"Handsome hair" by Scott

Here are Scott's two-year pictures from JC Penney's. He is SUCH a stinker when it comes to a)going to new places and b)having to sit still in a certain place for a certain amount of time. Just is not in his genes or something. So they had a really hard time getting any good pictures of him. Here's what we came up with:

This is actually his "separation anxiety" face. He's trying to give the lady the basket so he can run back into my arms.

"Here's your flower. Now let me go see my mom."

He insisted on holding the rubber duckies, even though they're really supposed to be for the naked-babies-in-the-bathtub-type pictures.

What a character. Maybe I can get some good candids once the sun starts coming out a little more. Wish me luck!

And, can I also just say what a great idea it was on Penney's part to offer "Smiles by Wire", a service where you can pay a few dollars and get digital copies (not suitable for printing), perfect for posting to Facebook and Blogger or emailing, and it's legal! Now I can follow the law and share my pictures digitally. Perfect.

• Preparing Young Women lessons
• Trying to find a lovely Easter song for Ward Choir with only one mens part that's mostly unison (having a rough time of it)
• Reading "a-sewf" and "tamp stowy" at least once a day (thanks for the Little Critter books, Amy :)
• Wishing that my director for South Pacific would just let me be a pregnant woman playing Nellie, already, instead of stressing me out by saying we have to search all around town down to the wire to find the perfect ensemble that will hide my belly.
