New Piano

After almost killing ourselves driving through Sardine Canyon into Cache Valley in a raging snowstorm, then almost not being able to load the thing into our not-overly-large Toyota Corolla (whose backseat was already partially occupied by a grumpy one-year-old), we are now the proud owners of a used Yamaha DGX-500 Portable Grand Piano and bench! Now I'll just put the finishing touches on my home studio and I'll be open for business this summer.

A Smorgasbord of Laughs

We were at my parents' house for dinner on Sunday and passed the evening playing card games. Scott, who was VERY tired (having missed two naps while we attended afternoon church, boooo), could not get enough of pushing the button and having Uno cards fly in his face. He cried inconsolably when we had to finish the game and he couldn't press the button anymore. Brandon suspects Scott is now addicted to the Uno Attack machine. Birthday Cake! Scott loved it, as is evident. :) He also loves all his new toys and wanted to play with them before they were even open. Thank you again!

Yay, new toys! And they make music!

Aren't these adorable? This is at the Johnson's house with a fun stuffed doggie that Scott loves to play with. Let's face it, he loves every puppy and doggie he sees--I think his first real word is "dog" (although he pronounces it more like "dong"). Scott is also sporting his first professional haircut in these photos.

Birthdays, Opera Scenes, and Zzzzz's

Cards! Scott loved the one with the pop-up balloons-he tore all the balloons off one by one and still carries them around the house. I find them everywhere :)

Like a book, only shorter. Good thing, because one-year-olds have a limited attention span.

He loves these little basketballs, and also the balls in the xylophone from Grandma Barrus.

He's one smart cookie! We hadn't even opened it all the way, and he already figured out how it worked.

So many toys, so little time.

But there's always time for a taste-test. Scott cut 3 new teeth these past few weeks, bringing his total up to 11.

Thank you, everyone, for your presents and cards for Scott. He loves all of them, and I love watching him learn and grow as he plays with them all. Also, thank you for all my presents--you guys spoil me! I had a wonderful birthday; Brandon not only made me breakfast in bed, gave me beautiful white roses, and took me to lunch, he also made me dinner and surprised me with a DVD I've been wanting--"The Prestige". What a wonderful husband!

Opera Scenes was last weekend at BYU-I; this is the first semester Daniel and I have both been involved (although we were in different scenes, so we rarely saw eachother).

Daniel sang Guglielmo in Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte and I sang Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro--it's a pants role, where a woman plays a young man or boy.

Do we look like brothers? Heh heh.

This may look like your average "baby falling asleep eating" picture, but it really represents an accomplishment, that, to my knowledge, Scott has never achieved until now: falling asleep on his own without crying!

Stayin' Alive

Sorry, updates will be posted very soon for Scott's (and my) birthday. Our laptop died, but we were able to find a great deal on a desktop (thanks to my good sale-watching skills), so we are no longer computer-less, thank goodness. However, with this new system we don't have a way to transfer pictures from our camera to the hard drive; gotta get a new cable. Stay tuned!

We had good times with our Barrus and Stevenson visitors--thanks so much for coming up, guys! We love all of our presents and we will post pics of Scott playing with his new fun toys. Thanks everyone!

Birthday Wishlists

At the request of the Grandmas, here are some suggestions of presents Scott would enjoy for his first birthday:

It's finally time for shoes!  Awww, Scott's growing up.  I prefer soft soles while he's still learning to walk.  He probably wears the 18 month size, or above. 

Scott absolutely loves dumping things out, and he's even starting to get into putting things back where they were.  He would love some nesting stacking toys.

A little tool set--I love this one, shown above, because it is soft and safe but holds its shape and the drill really vibrates. 

Any color, any style of ball, except for foam.  He would just bite pieces out of it. 

Also, books, books, and more books, especially of the board variety.  He LOVES 'em!

And here's a list of ideas of presents for me (hint, hint, Brandon :) :

This is the new Nursery manual; I just read about it in the Ensign, and I'd love to have it for FHE lessons.

Nice storage for my jewelry. These stands come in a set of three or seperately; I don't really need the bracelet one, only the earring and necklace ones.  Also, a jewelry box would work just as well, as long as it has places for earrings and necklaces.

Pretty earring and/or necklace sets, especially in black, red, or pink.  Above are just some ideas.  

I've been wanting/needing one of these for awhile, lol.  

Love this stuff!

I just got my hair cut short again (yay!), and I'm planning on keeping it that way.  I'd love some pretty beaded or flowered or bowed headbands. 

Also, any scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies, especially from the Dollar Tree (they have really cute stuff!).
